OUR CERTIFICATIONS

Fibers certified by independent, third-party labs

In today’s market, trusted certifications are more than a badge — they’re a critical tool for meeting customer and consumer expectations, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals. That’s why we’ve prioritized third-party certifications across our business and made them a key part of our global sustainability platform.

The LYCRA Company has achieved a range of certifications that cover our product suite and manufacturing operations, demonstrating our commitment to product safety, environmental responsibility, and supply chain transparency. We continue to work towards attaining additional validations and will regularly update this page.

THIRD-PARTY CERTIFICATIONS

GLOBAL RECYCLED STANDARD & RECYCLED CLAIM STANDARD

Our EcoMade family of recycled polyester products made from bottles is Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certified, a voluntary product standard for tracking and verifying the content of recycled materials in a final product. The standard applies to the whole supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, labeling, and chemicals used in the processing of GRS products. To help you and your customers make informed decisions, GRS provides assurance that materials in the final product are recycled and processed more sustainably.

Polyester products recycled from textile waste and recycled LYCRA® fiber are certified to the Recycled Claim Standard (RCS). Contact us for more information or to access the verification tool that supports your order and shipment. For a complete listing of the fibers that have been certified to GRS and RCS, please consult the scope certificate.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

The OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is a world-renowned and trusted certification. LYCRA® fiber products for apparel and personal care made at our manufacturing sites around the world have achieved STANDARD 100, Class 1, Appendix 6 certification. This certification meets the requirements for baby products that make direct skin contact — the highest level of approval within the standard.

LYCRA® T400®, COOLMAX®, and THERMOLITE® fibers and insulations have also been certified. This means the fibers have been checked against a list of over 1,000 harmful substances and successfully tested for safety in human ecological terms.

HIGG FEM

Six LYCRA® fiber manufacturing sites have completed the Higg Facility Environmental Module (FEM) that assesses the environmental impact of each facility. This robust assessment establishes an environmental baseline so each site can work towards continuous improvement in key areas: environmental management systems, energy use, emissions, water usage, wastewater, and waste and chemical management.

Six sites also completed Higg FEM verification in 2024 and will do so in 2025.  These third- party reviews confirm the accuracy of the data in the self-assessments. Participating sites include Foshan, China; Monterrey, Mexico; Waynesboro, Virginia; Maydown, Northern Ireland, Tuas, Singapore, and Paulinia, Brazil. Copies of the completion certificates for self-assessments and verifications can be accessed below.

USDA BIO-PREFERRED

The LYCRA Company has received USDA Bio-Preferred certification for a number of its LYCRA® fibers made with renewable feedstock, in this case, dent corn. The certification uses carbon-dating testing to confirm the exact percentage of renewable content in the fiber. Certificates are found below for the current stable of renewable products, listed by LYCRA® fiber type numbers. Certificates for additional products will be added as they come on stream.

GOLD LEVEL MATERIAL HEALTH CERTIFICATE

The Gold Level Material Health certificate is awarded by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. We are proud that over 90% of LYCRA® brand fibers for apparel (35 products) have earned this prestigious certification at the gold level, version 4.0, with our current certificate valid until January 2028. This certification highlights our commitment to producing chemically optimized products by:

  • Enhancing transparency: Providing clear information about the chemicals used in our products and supply chains
  • Prioritizing safety: Avoiding harmful chemicals and transitioning to safer, more sustainable alternatives
  • Driving continuous improvement: Committing to reduce the environmental impact of the chemicals we use over time

When you choose these certified LYCRA® brand fibers, you can trust in the transparency of both our suppliers and ingredients. Plus, you’re supporting The LYCRA Company’s ongoing efforts to improve the sustainability of our products.
